Shauna is an adult acute care nurse practitioner who is board certified through American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) and has been in practice for over 15 years. She obtained a BSN from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ in 2000. Upon graduation, she built upon her emergency medicine training as an EMT and worked as both a staff and charge emergency room nurse. She then advanced into leadership roles as a nursing supervisor and assistant nurse manager.
Wanting to expand her clinical role, she attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA where she obtained an MSN with a focus on adult acute care in 2008. The beginning of her NP career centered on her roots in emergency medicine, but soon she chose to focus on internal medicine. She worked for several years as a hospitalist nurse practitioner and maintained a connection in outpatient urgent care medicine.
Over the last few years of her career, Shauna wanted to focus on a specialty which led her into gastroenterology. She enjoys being able to focus on one specific area of medicine and help her patients educate and understand the disease processes associated within this system.
