Dr. Claudia Barghash is a board-certified attending gastroenterologist at Digestive Healthcare Center. She specializes in gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, reflux disease, screening colonoscopy, liver and pancreas diseases, and pelvic floor disorders with anal manometry. She is also a clinical attending physician at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Dr. Barghash attended Staten Island University Hospital’s residency program for internal medicine, where she served as a chief resident teaching responsibilities and leading and supervising clinical rounds in the intensive care unit. She completed her gastroenterology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where she experienced the treatment of a wide variety of gastrointestinal diseases and researched Helicobacter Pylori and reflux disease. She received a full scholarship to medical school and completed her undergraduate degree at the American University of Beirut.
A strong advocate for women’s healthcare, Dr. Barghash is the recipient of a Patient’s Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Recognition, making her one of the top female gastroenterologists in NJ. She is also fluent in Arabic and French. Speaking about her healthcare philosophy, Dr. Barghash states: “I strive to practice my profession with conscience and dignity, kindness and sympathy. The health of my patients is always my first concern.”
