Dr. Alan Gingold is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology. He is the current Chief of Gastroenterology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. His areas of expertise include inflammatory bowel disease, capsule endoscopy, reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, chronic liver disease, and hemorrhoidal banding. Dr Gingold previously served as Member at Large on the Medical Executive Committee for RWJ University Hospital at Somerset. He is also a former Bylaws Committee member and the former Chairman of the Nutrition Committee at RWJ University Hospital. Following his studies at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Westbury, NY, Dr. Gingold completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology and his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dr. Gingold has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Castle Connolly and NJ Top Docs awards. He has contributed articles to several publications, including Digestive Diseases and Sciences (October 2007), Life Sciences (October 2003) and Teratology (December 1999). Dr. Gingold attributes his success to the extra time he spends with his patients. “This gives me a better understanding of their problems so we can work together as a team to resolve the issues that they have,” Dr. Gingold states.
