Preparing for Gastroenterology Procedures in NJ
If your physician at Digestive Healthcare Center determines that a procedure is needed to diagnose or address a digestive health condition, we will ensure that you are fully informed about the entire process, including how to prepare for the procedure. Please do not follow any of the following prep instructions unless instructed to do so first by our office. Most patients will require a consultation at our office before being cleared to have a procedure/test.

Infusion Therapy
An alternative treatment where medication is infused intravenously through a needle or tube rather than orally.
Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
A treatment where a tube is inserted orally so medication and nutrition can be administered directly to the stomach.
Therapeutic ERCP
The study of a patient’s drainage ducts to their bowels through an ERCP scope.
Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
A procedure where an endoscope is inserted down into the patient’s esophagus to detect and diagnose abnormalities.
